Brazil’s exports to Arab countries climbed 13%

Revenue from foreign sales came out to USD 9.3 billion year-to-date through September.

Year-to-date through September 2019, exports from Brazil to Arab countries fetched USD 9.3 billion, up 13.2% from a year ago. Imports to Brazil from Arab countries amounted to USD 5.2 billion, down 1.5% year-on-year. The data is from a report by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce Market Intelligence Department.

The surplus on Brazil’s side when it came to Arab-Brazilian trade widened by 39%, to USD 4.2 billion. Total trade was USD 14.5 billion, up 7.5%.

Four countries accounted for the bulk of Arab trade with Brazil: Saudi Arabia, at USD 3.2 billion in trade; the UAE, at USD 2.1 billion; Algeria, also at USD 2.1 billion; and Egypt, at USD 1.7 billion.

Countries whose trade with Brazil increased the most were Mauritania, up 163%, Libya, up 115%, the Comoro Islands, up 74%, and Bahrain, up 71%.

Record numbers in September

Revenue from exports from Brazil to Arab countries were down 12% year-on-year in September, to USD 1 billion.

Exports of zinc, aluminum ore and sesame seeds from Brazil to Arab countries all hit record highs in September, the Arab Chamber Market Intelligence Department reported.

Arab exports to Brazil were also the strongest ever for items including aluminum wire and garlic.
