Hong Kong has climbed to 3rd place among non-OIC economies in the 2025 Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) by Mastercard-CrescentRating, and was also named the “Most Promising Muslim-Friendly Destination of the Year”. A milestone that highlights the city's efforts in welcoming Muslim travelers.
According to the Hong Kong Tourism Board, over 60 establishments, including top hotels like Island Shangri-La and Kerry Hotel, have received official Muslim-Friendly certification. These venues offer halal meals, prayer spaces, and culturally respectful services, adhering to CrescentRating's strict seven-level rating system.
This recognition aligns with the booming halal travel market, projected to exceed $341 billion by 2030, attracting both Muslim and ethically conscious travelers worldwide.
